DBS Application Guide

For information on how to process a DBS application, or initiate a DBS check please see the guide below or contact your local Club Welfae Office (or County Welfare Officer)

Annual DBS Update Service

As part of the online DBS application process for volunteers all new certificates are automatically registered with the Annual Update Service. This will mean a couple of things.

Firstly, clubs will need to ensure their members keep an eye out for the Annual Status Update correspondence. This will take the form of an automated email sent to the email address the applicant applied with. The email will ask the applicant to give permission for the ECB to check their current status with the DBS.

Firstly, applicants’ DBS checks will now be updated every 12 months, provided they do not opt out of the service. The DBS will still show on the system as requiring renewal in 3 years’ time, but this date will be pushed back by a year each time the annual update check is carried out

For further information relating to the DBS process please click to access the guide below or contact your County Welfare Officer

DBS Checks from Other Organisations

From the 1st May 2015, the ECB can accept DBS checks from other organisations, providing the individual is registered with the DBS Online Update Service and the check is the correct type of DBS check. (Individuals can only register for the online service within 19 days of receipt of their DBS Certificate.)
